Whistlestop tour through our week.......Monday 22nd February to Monday 1st March
Marisa was poorly on Monday as were almost all her friends...hmmm not good, I had to work so fortunately a good friend had her for the day, Tuesday still poorly so at home with Mum and couldn't go to Scouts, Wednesday still ill so another day at home. Enough already and back to school please :o) Well enough to go to the pool Friday night though!
Busy morning on Friday for Carolyn, monthly pilgrimage to see the accountant while the children enjoyed games and crash test dummies and kite flying and cooking etc etc for Jubilee Day at school, K had a friend round after school which was fun, nice chap.
Saturday night was WOMUBU a music festival held on a local estate called Broadwater Farm great music and free tickets for us which was fab. The children climbed the local travelling climbing wall and we listened to music till long after dark. Good times.
Late start on Sunday, I wonder why? trip to Bunbury as nothing better to do looking for odds and ends and stuff for Ian, another pair of sunnies to be replaced for our offspring who seem to lose or break sunnies regularly. Fish and Chips on the Marsden Waterfront which wasn't great, have had much tastier one there before.
Monday was a public holiday so like all sensible people we went to the Beach at Meelup, stopped at a coffee shop based at Ngilgi Cave on the way home to drink coffee and read the paper while various kids, not all ours, roamed around eating ice creams.
At home the children watched a film while we sat out front of the house and enjoyed a light breeze as we read till it was too dark, popped some fish in the oven and chilled out. No cubs this week due to public holiday but back again next week.
There and back again..... a Hojos' tale. Boscastle Life and Times. We emigrated to Australia, had 3 1/2 fab years there and decided to come back to the UK again. Here we are blogging from sunny Cornwall.

Another Eight Bunnies
Sunday 18th October 2009
We got up at a reasonable hour this morning, only to find that one of the bunnies has had another eight babies, we thought that we had seen the last of them but this rabbit when out for a walk one day a few weeks ago, was ambushed by one of the male bunnies who had managed to escape, we thought we had caught him before he could do anything, but obviously not.
We went to the market down by the foreshore while the kids went to the beach to play, then while we had a coffee, they went for a swim in the sea.
On the way home we stopped off at the pet shop to see how many baby bunnies they had and they only have one at the moment, Carolyn is going to take our five babies who are now five weeks old to the pet shop tomorrow.
After a bit of lunch, we loaded up the car with Kayak, Surfboard etc and headed for Meelup, there were quite a few people there although not many swimming.
We went for a swim and it was a bit chilly, but once you got used to it, it was quite pleasant, not that Carolyn waited long enough to find out, she dunked herself for about thirty seconds before deciding that laying in the sun was much more her forte.
After a long day in the sun we were all a bit tired so we had a light tea, spoilt to a certain degree by some crap Pate that we had bought from the supermarket as a treat, the only person that was treated was the owner of the Pate firm and that won’t happen again.
Australia, or at least the WA part of it, must be the worst place on the planet for Pate, I don’t mean the worst place for a Pate to live, I mean, for a person who enjoys pate to find one that isn’t covered with all sorts of stuff other than meat to hide the taste, or to find one that doesn’t have the texture of the cheapest cat food you could possibly imagine, after it has been eaten and then thrown up by the cat, then eaten and thrown up by the dog.
The Pate in question is called Premium Tasmanian Pate and it is dire, I wouldn’t even recommend someone try it to see how bad it is, the thought of somebody making a profit out of this garbage makes me mad, these people should go somewhere in the world where they know how to make the product properly, go on a cookery course in said country and learn to make it properly, before inflicting their junk on the human race.
We had an early night again, how boring is that?

Cheap Books and Chinese
Saturday 29th March 2008
We went into town this morning to pay the rent, check the emails and pay a library fine incurred by Marisa for having a nose bleed over one of their books. The book was not that badly damaged but because it was blood we thought we should let them know, however it was not all bad because we now know how to get books on the cheap as they are normally very expensive to buy over here. From now on every time we find a book that we wouldn’t mind keeping we are going to have a blood letting ceremony, it will involve one of the boys giving Marisa a whack on the nose while she is reading for which they will be suitably reprimanded and while we are mopping up the blood some of it might get onto the book that we wish to keep.
After that we took the kids out for lunch and gave them their first taste of Jaffle Pie which they enjoyed, although the flavours that they chose were the same as the food they would normally eat for lunch but without a pie case, Fraser had Egg and Bacon, Marisa had Carbonara while Kristian had Shepherds Pie in his Pie.
After lunch we had a look at some Indonesian furniture before going home to chill out for the afternoon and then went to Meelup beach early evening. When we got to the beach there were a load of chairs laid out at for a wedding ceremony and people milling about in suits and designer dresses, the weather was perfect for it and the location is amazing. When the ceremony started all the people that were on the beach stopped what they were doing and watched which was quite nice, Ian however decided to stay in the water and the lucky couple will be delighted to find out that straight after the ceremony when the photographer stepped in and started doing his bit, the first photographs he took of them standing next to the registrars table with their backs to the Ocean will have Ian in the background bobbing around on a bright red wave rider.
When we got home we fed the kids and put them to bed before demolishing our First Australian Chinese meal which wasn’t bad, it wasn’t quite what we are used to but it was tasty and if this is what Australian Chinese tastes like then we won’t be complaining, especially when it is washed down with a couple of litres of Jacobs Creek Rose. We spent the evening watching a load of adverts interspersed with a couple of movies whilst eating and drinking.

1st day at School for Ian and Carolyn
Friday 28th March 2008
We made sure we got the kids to school early today, after all we couldn’t be late for our first day of listening to the children read. It was relatively harmless, there were only a few words we didn’t know and if we hadn’t been there the teacher wouldn’t have been able to listen to them all on her own so we will be going back next week.
After that we went to the house to do a final Pre-Settlement viewing with the agent, we pointed out all the things that we knew from the surveys needed fixing and found a couple of others that we thought we may get away with. Some of the electrics were not working when we got there and the agent was straight on the phone to an electrician who, luckily for the agent was working close by and came straight over to fix the problem. It was a shame the electrician was so close in a way, it was quite funny watching the agent sweating over the possibility he might have to take a cut in his commission if it didn’t work and we put in a lower offer.
The electrician fixed the bits that were not working and just as we were about to leave the owners turned up and we introduced ourselves, they seemed quite pleasant but we didn’t really get a chance to chat because the agent was desperate to get us out (they obviously don’t approve of buyer and seller talking to each other out here). Outside we spoke to the agent about the bits we weren’t happy with and he tried to fob us off saying I don’t think you can ask for this and I don’t think you can ask for that, so we just stood firm in the knowledge that there is only a week before we are due to settle (exchange) and the small amount that we are asking for is nothing compared to what the cost of us pulling out would be. The agent said he would talk to the owners and see what he could do.
We then went appliance window shopping again and managed to strike up a couple of what we feel are good deals, well it is a darn sight less than we would have paid in the UK. While we were shopping we got a call from the realty agent asking us to pop in and see him so when we had finished we went straight round to his office. He had apparently spoken to the owners who had agreed to get everything that we had listed fixed, the only query was that the cook top that they would be fitting to replace the faulty one may not be exactly what we would want so we might want to do a deal whereby they pay for a cook top and installation and if we want a different top we pay the difference, which sounds good to us as we were going to change it anyway.
We then went to the local showroom to check out the price of cooker tops and bumped into the house owners who were doing the same thing, so we exchanged numbers with them so that we could avoid dealing with agents and said that we would wait for their call and we were sure we could agree a price.
We then went to see the settlement agent and paid our Stamp Duty before a bit of lunch and de-clutter of the emails in the Café. From there we went to an insurance broker to organise house insurance as we are supposed to be signing for the loan on Monday and need the insurance before they will release the funds.
After picking the kids up from school we went to another insurance broker to get a quote before going down to the beach for a swim. Today we went to yet another new beach, this one was recommended to us by the salesman who we are going to buy the Fridge/Freezer/Dishwasher/Washing Machine/Dryer/Iron/Kettle/ Toaster and Vacuum Cleaner from. It is in a small cove called Meelup and it was gorgeous, gently shelving beach, crystal clear water and no Jellyfish (stingers), which we found out today aren’t baby Jellyfish but full size ones which is a result because we weren’t looking forward to meeting the big ones.
We are into Autumn over here now and the nights are starting to draw in, the nights are cooling down and during the day it can go down to 25C degrees so it’s only a matter of time before we put on our sweaters. The clocks go back an hour tomorrow night, we have had an hour daylight saving (summer time) as they call it over here so we will not be able to go down the beach in the evening for much longer although apparently in a couple of weeks time it will start raining for about two months so we probably wouldn’t want to anyway.
We got home at about 8pm after stopping off at a bottle store to buy a box of wine which Carolyn got stuck into whilst watching a load of TV adverts interspersed with the film Love Actually.
