Bike Ride Training Begins

Wednesday 18th February 2009
Ian had to get in to work early this morning so that he could set up the Ice Cream machine for the second time this week, it is not a particularly difficult task, it’s just that it takes time because everything has got to be just right and when it is, it has to be sanitised before you can use it, he would much rather be looking at the inside of his eyelids.
The Ice Cream Machine is now working again, it’s just a shame the staff weren’t, it was so quiet in the shopping centre today that the only time we came under pressure was when there was only Ian and Michelle left and four people walked in at the same time.
Ian has announced that he wants to ride his bike from Busselton to Augusta before winter sets in, it is a distance of about 120km on a winding, very undulating road.
Ian has been desperate for a bike challenge for over a year now, but because we don’t know any other cyclists in the area he has been reduced to the odd ride with Carolyn and the Kids.
Talking about Ians need to find a cycling partner at work this morning, Fliss announced that Michelle would be willing to do it, Michelle who thought that Fliss was having a go at her size said that she would.
When they finished work tonight Ian and Michelle arranged to meet at a boat ramp by the cycle path, Ian and Carolyn were waiting for the phone call to say that the bike was broken or some other excuse, but it never came.
Ian cycled to the boat ramp and Michelle was already there so they set off towards Port Geographe, Michelle has never been into riding bikes so it wasn’t the fastest ride but they did about 30km and she didn’t moan too much, in fact she only mentioned her aching legs as they were coming to the end of the ride.
Whether or not she will want to go out for another bike ride, we will have to wait and see how she feels at work tomorrow.
Carolyn came into the CafĂ© to work today, she didn’t have to stay too long, once the lunch almost a rush was over she went shopping and didn’t find anything to buy, Result!
Do you know Busselton is one of the very few towns in the world where Carolyn can go shopping on a regular basis, and not buy anything?
Don’t get us wrong, it’s not like we’re treated like royalty and are given everything, it’s just that there is not really that much in the shops that we would entertain in our house or be seen dead wearing.
After Carolyn picked the kids up from school she had the obligatory battle with them to do their homework, yet again one of them has left their books that they should be using for homework at school.
Now this leaving homework books at school thing is starting to look a bit suspicious, every night one of them does it, we haven’t been keeping a record of who does it when but we have a sneaking suspicion that they are doing it on a rota system. We are now going to keep records, tonight it was Fraser.
Marisa and Kristian both did their homework while Fraser, who is expected to learn Bible Passages throughout the year, managed to learn this weeks and next.
The kids had their tea and an early night, Ian and Carolyn ate when he got back from his bike ride, chatted, had a couple of beers and went to bed later than they should.

learn bible passages..? Trying to think if I had to do that...

I have to say that if mine were leaving books at school on a rota system - I would laugh :)

Maybe not in front of them - but later - I would laugh :)

Ah - the cycling addiction rears its ugly head... Clearly I have NO idea what that feels like *grin*.

Except the last time Ian took that up he was secretly getting ready to emigrate...anything you need to share with us this time? ;)
