A Close Shave, We Wish

Saturday 28th March 2009
The neighbours over the road had another party again last night, we were woken up again by their noise in the middle of the night.
The Café was quiet again today, we had none of the experienced staff working today, it was us and three Saturday girls.
Because it was so quiet in the morning, Carolyn took the opportunity to check out the auction as there was a small upright Piano that we might have been interested in for the kids if it was the right price.
The Piano ended up not being even remotely close to what we were willing to pay for it, but it did keep Carolyn out of the Café during the busiest part of the day because it was the very last item to go under the hammer.
The afternoon clear up was a shambles, everyone was so disorganised that it all got done in the wrong order and Ian didn’t finish until 5pm, fortunately some of the machines that we would normally strip down on a Saturday, had been done yesterday, otherwise he would have been a lot later.
When Ian had stripped down the Ice Cream machine and cleaned it, he had to leave it to air dry for a while before he could put it back together, so decided to get his hair cut while he was waiting.
There are TEN Hairdressers/Barbers in Busselton CBD (Central Business District we think), the one in Busselton Boulevard which is where the Café is, is open on a Saturday afternoon and is always very busy on a Saturday afternoon, so much so that on a Saturday afternoon you need to make an appointment.
Ian didn’t take it to heart when he was turned away from the Hairdressers in Busselton Boulevard, because he had only gone in there on the off chance that they would be able to fit him in, after all there are another Nine Hairdressers and Barbers in Busselton, so he would be bound to get in somewhere.
Wrong, after walking round the centre of Busselton for twenty minutes and checking out every other Hairdresser/Barber, Ian had to face the truth, there are not enough Parties/Functions going on, or perhaps there are, but the people from Busselton just don’t get invited to them so don’t have an excuse to get their hair done on a Saturday ready for the Big Night Out.
Nine Hairdressers/Barbers in Busselton closed on a Saturday afternoon, the one that is open has got more work than it can handle, and Ian is fed up with looking like a Hippy.
Ian went back to the Café, put the Ice Cream machine back together ready for Monday and then went home, not happy with the disorganised clear up and even less happy with not being able to get his hair cut, which is a bit daft really, because if the clear up had gone to plan he wouldn’t have even thought about getting his hair cut.
In the evening we went down to Stilts, had a couple of beers and watched the Eagles get turned over in their first game of the new season (AFL), they were doing quite well until we started watching them at about half time, or the end of the second quarter as they say out here.
What we are vehemently hoping at the moment is that the Eagles never get involved in politics, because since Carolyn decided that we as a family should support the Eagles they have been dire, if they do, and like most sports people they believe in omens, we are likely to have no chance with our visa, they have done nothing since we landed and it doesn’t look like it is going to get any better this year.
We came home early so that we could get an early night, the clocks go back an hour tonight, we have got to get up early tomorrow to meet the Scouts and we don’t want to lose the benefit of the extra hours sleep.
